<a href="http://www.collegespeaker.net"title="Speaker for College Campuses" >Campus speakers of <a href="http://www.collegespeaker.net/student-activities/college-campus-activities-another-avenue-for-growth.html"title="campus activities" >college campus activities often play an important role in molding the character and personality of the students. These are the people who have sufficient knowledge regarding particular topics outside the scope of the usual academic subjects offered by educational institutions. This role usually becomes the determining factor if the college campus activities are successful or not. They are usually invited by schools and organizations to discuss about these issues. These college campus activities serve as a medium where the resource speaker, the organizers and the attendees can facilitate an open discussion relating the topics or issues being discussed.

But, organizers of college campus activities should be able to choose a resource speaker who has really good background regarding the topic being discussed. Resource speakers should have relevant knowledge, may it be work-related or activity-related, regarding the subject matter of these forums. These could be verified by asking for their profiles containing said experiences. Also, it is also a good option for the organizer of college campus activities to attend to lectures by these resource speakers before inviting them in order to assess if they really have a good grasp of the topic they are discussing and if this will be relevant to the growth of the students.

The best college speakers not only have relevant background regarding the topic, but they can also deliver the discussion in an effective and entertaining way. Since campus activities are commonly done with a large crowd as audience, exemplary communication skills of the speakers is a requisite. Sometimes, even though the resource speaker can be backed by impressive experiences, his method of presenting his ideas during actual campus activities does not interest the attendees. These include speakers who only read their speech or talk in the most monotonous manner possible. In order for the college campus activities to be successful, it is a must that the resource speaker can deliver the topic to the attendees effectively through lively discussion, humorous antics, and appropriate examples.

It is imperative that motivational speakers that are invited to college campuses possess these two characteristics: knowledge of the subject matter and the ability to impart their ideas effectively. This is in order for the activities director to achieve their objective of helping in the development of the character of their students attendees.

A challenge that all college advisors and student leaders share is getting more people to attend the college campus activities that they plan during the school year. As students are bombarded with different options of what they could do and be involved in, how does one go about in marketing their event so that it cuts through the clutter of things going?

Below are five simple yet effective marketing ideas guaranteed to increase your attendance and fill your events!

1. Create a short video about your event

With students’ attention spans waning because of sites like Youtube and Facebook, making a short video to promote your event is one of your best ways to get the news out. When creating a video make sure to keep two things in mind.

- Keep it short and sweet

There is a popular saying, less is more. Think about your video being like a movie trailer for what to expect at your event. Include all necessary information like the date, time, and location of the event but don’t forget to include reasons why people should attend. Mention the benefits that they will receive from attending your event.

- Evoke emotion

Any viral video on Youtube evokes emotion, positive or negative. Whether it is a moving video like the one that the Invisible Children organization just made (Kony 2012) or a funny video like the old spice commercials, the most viewed and shared videos evoke some type of emotion in the viewer. Prior to creating your video, ask yourself “How do I want people to feel during and after watching my video?” Recently I created a video for a contest to speak at the White House. In it I had to share my story, what matters most to me, and how I am making a difference in the community today. My goal was for people to feel that I was genuine and passionate in making a difference in students’ lives. By asking this question it helped provide me with direction on how to create my video, which you can view below. 24 hours after posting this video, I was the 37th most viewed video on Youtube in the educational category.

2. Share your event in a Facebook status and get people to like/comment on it.

Many people post their events in their Facebook status hoping that people will see it. Rather than leaving it to chance, you can actually increase the amount of people that see it by by simply getting others to like and comment on your status. The top stories in your news feed are selected by Facebook based on the amount of likes and comments that they received. So the next time that are promoting an event via your Facebook status, ask a handful of friends to like and comment on your status.

3. Video tape students from your event sharing how much fun they had

After a successful event ask a couple attendees who loved your event to share what they enjoyed most. Afterwards, you can post their video testimonials on your website, in a future promotional video, or on Facebook. When other students hear peers sharing how fun and great your events are, you will notice an increase in attendance because word of mouth is the best type of marketing.

4. Collaborate with other organizations

Individually we can achieve a lot on our own but collectively we can achieve so much more. Collaborating with another organization or club on campus is a great way to lower costs for an event as well increasing your ability to reach more people. A great example of this is with fraternities and sororities. Many times throughout the year they will help one another in marketing their events. As member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, we held an annual event raising money for the Red Cross. All the sororities on our campus participated by donating money, volunteering their time, and by marketing our event to all of their friends. Because of their involvement and willingness to help us with our philanthropy event, we jumped at the opportunity to help these sororities when they held their own philanthropy events. In the end we all benefited by raising more money and increasing attendance at all of our events because of the cross promotion that we did for each other with our organization.

5. Give out free things to incentive students to attend

Every college student loves free stuff. Food, gift cards, shirts, you name it. After determining an item that students would want, mention in your marketing that the 1st 50 students who attend will get free In and Out burgers or that the 1st 100 who register and attend will have a chance to win an I Pod shuffle. The key is choosing an item that students actually want. A great way to get free big ticket items to make it a win-win scenario for companies so that they want to donate to your event. A couple years ago when I published my 1st book, I held a book launch at the University of Washington. Rather than paying $5000+ for catering, decor, and entertainment, we were able to receive everything we needed as an in kind donation from major companies because we made it a win-win for all of them involved.

Learning is never confined within the four corners of the classroom. The theoretical lessons that are imparted by our mentors is not sufficient in order to develop the students to be holistic individuals in the future. These teachings centered on academic frameworks serves only the foundation of true school learning. These academic subjects are inadequate to fully hone the potential of every student. These should be furthered bolstered by the participation of students in <a href="http://www.collegespeaker.net/student-activities/college-campus-activities-another-avenue-for-growth.html"title="campus activities" >college campus activities.

College campus activities are extra curricular events that are aimed to address the enhancement of the students’ non academic and social background. These usually take form in seminars, conferences, symposiums and the like. Commonly, campuses invite competent and famous people who have relevant knowledge to discuss various topics during college campus activities that are crucial to the betterment of the students. The topics during college campus activities range from basic personality development seminars to highly critical social issues such as alcohol or substance addiction.

College campus activities are a relevant segment of school curriculum because they serve as an avenue to inculcate to the students the importance of these issues in their daily life. Orienting the students about these issues gives them a heads-up on how to deal with these things when they experience it. These also help gear the pupils to know how the consequences of their actions will affect themselves and the society as a whole.

The resource and keynote speakers also play a big role in the fulfillment of the objectives of college campus activities. Their expertise regarding the background and proper response to these issues are highly relevant because these are the ideas that are needed to be inculcated in the minds of the students. During these college campus activities, the students are given the opportunity to voice out their minds and ask the speakers on what they think regarding their own ideas.

The educational institution’s mission to developing their students’ intellect does not stop to the teacher-student relationship bounded by the classroom. They are also obliged to hone other aspects of the well-being of the students by undertaking college campus activities intended to improve all of these as well. Activities for college students serve as a better ground for students to come a prolific member of the society that he belongs to.

Speaking at Mountain View College

Dallas County Community College District

Do you represent a community college? Do you ever bring in motivational speakers to give a speech to your students?

If so please consider inviting Fabian Ramirez to come to your school and give a motivational seminar, workshop or keynote presentation for your students. Fabian started by attending a junior college in the Houston, TX area called San Jacinto College. After earning enough credits he later transferred to the University in Dallas, Texas.

He shares how he started off by failing all three parts of the entrance exam and having to take remedial courses his first semester. Since it’s not about how you start it’s how you finish, Fabian will take students down a journey they will never forget and share how he ended up with a Masters degree in Management and finished with a 3.85 GPA.

Community College students deal with a lot of issues that most do not understand. For example, some already feel that starting at the junior college level is somewhat of a defeat for them. Others simply cannot afford to start at the University level so they attend the nearest local college.

Commuter students typically are the ones that have the hardest time because most attend courses at night and it’s common for them to miss classes throughout the semester putting them in a position where they are always having to catch up on school work.

Records show that commuter students are the ones that drop the most courses during their first year of community college.

By bringing in a speaker, that person can inspire students to hang in there for the long run and show them what the end results of their sacrifice looks like. Not only that but a speaker can talk to them at their level, plus their a neutral person that can say the hard truths that students need to hear.

Contact Fabian today to schedule him to speak at your next event for students. This would be a great event for the office of student life to put together.

When looking for the best college speaker you want to get someone who is funny, inspirational and a great storyteller all at a reasonable price. This is why it’s a good idea to find a speaker who has been through college and actually finished. Nothing is more inspiring than listening to somebody with a list of accomplishments because you know they can understand what college students are going through. They have lived where they live and they have taken the courses that they are currently taking. So when looking at speakers, make sure to make it a priority to book one with a college degree.

Next be sure that they speak more than a couple times every year. Get a seasoned professional speaker that knows how to work an audience. Too many people want to speak to this age group but lack the experience needed to relate to them. College campuses all over the U.S. have events year around, so it’s a good idea to call a nearby school to see who they have had in the past and ask if they were any good. Referrals are simply the best way to find anything good, like a restaurant, the same is true for speakers.

Truth is you may not know where to start on your search when booking the best college speaker for your next event. Feel free to <a href="http://www.collegespeaker.net/contact-a-college-speaker"title="Contact a college speaker" >contact us for suggestions. There are plenty of speakers to choose from but I’m sure you want to get the best. I don’t blame you, a lot of riding on your shoulders when you are in charge of planning an event and you want it to be successful and you want all attendees to have a good time. It’s a great idea to bring in a neutral person to speak to your students in a way that is encouraging and uplifting. So book your college speaker today and enjoy your event.
